I have forced air oil heat and I have put in pleated air filters but the dust persists. Every 3 days I can run my hands along the top of my headboard and I pick up a sizable amount of dust. It's driving me mad and I am wondering what I can do to combat it.

I have read that having your ducts cleaned is bogus- I read it from a number of sources. I have pleated filters- but I don't see much build up on them and just changed them 2 weeks ago. No less dust build up.....if I cut out a pleated filter and stuck it to the inside of my forced air grate would hot air still get through but it would filter the dust?

JUST AN IDEA.

I cut filtrete allergan filters (with wire mess removed) large enough to wrap around bottom of registers and put them back into floor acts as a gasket around sides and greatly reduced dust in my house. had price on duct cleaning but initial job cost more because they have to install several items and access points. and on crawlspace. 675 sq ft house was about $500. well worth it if you can afford it but go with a reputable company, a lot of scammers. I also purchased a honeywell air filter/purifier/ionizer for about $140 at home depot.
