Are there touch keys on the razr2 (rogers) that are available (NOT the music keys)?

okay so I have the new razr2 (v9) from rogers...and i cannot seem to get the touch screen to work for any other apps than the Music player...I thought there were suppose to be touch keys devoted to viewing messages and what not.. I have unlocked the external keys and touched the screen and nothing happens ...help?
