Are trackballs better than mice? Which trackball is most ergonomic?

After using a computer mouse the whole day I notice fatigue in my right arm and hand, and the part of the hand resting on the table hurts. Is a trackball better for health and comfort during long term intensive work? What type of trackball is best - "thumb" or "index finger" trackballs? And are there any trackballs for Bluetooth, so that they don't occupy the rare and precious USB ports on my notebook?

Track balls aren't better or more ergonomically designed. They are just different. There are lots of different models and styles. Try them out and find the one that works best for you.

As to USB ports, get a USB hub while you're getting your track ball. They aren't expensive.
