Are you allowed to bring DVD players(not portable) on the plane?

Hello. I am traveling on a one way trip from America to live in a new country. I was wondering If I can pack my DVD player in my carry on or checked baggage. It's not portable, but It's very special and it is multi region, cost a lot, and it's special to me. I would hate to give it up. I am flying on air canada. Thank you for your time.

Absolutely, in fact the TSA has a webpage showing that larger electronics such as DVD players are allowed, but like laptops they must be x-rayed separately at the security checkpoint. Here's the skinny:
