I play soccer. I usually play the keeper position - and sometimes things get a bit rough. I usually stop breakaways well. (oh, before we get anywhere, remember this is like, school soccer, and not pro) I played sweeper before moving to keeper, but I'm considered good already
What I find is when I end up on a two on one, I charge out and end up smashing the ball from the first person (who lands on me) to the second person who taps it in. Something that happened a few days ago was that I blocked the first shot (being like, two feet away from him) but then I was on the ground and the player behind him just kicked it in. Any tips on breakaway stops? I usually go out and have a half slide tackle half hand grab thing.
The second problem I face most of the time is crosses. Really annoying. Do I try and stop the cross, or do I stop the person as soon as he recieves the cross? Once the cross came in and then guy tried to kick it straight in without controlling it, but I got there with both my legs out so I stopped it. The thing is, I reacted before he kicked it. So if he decided to controll and dodge me, I'd be dead. So after that I wasn't sure if I should of went out and intercepted the cross or wait until he got the ball before taking action.
Sometimes when someone takes a shot, I'm right there, but when my hands meet it, I try to push out and up, but the ball ends up going straight up while going into the net. Would I be better off trying to catch the ball, or trying to push it to the ground where I can get down onto it?
