As a young guy, would it be acceptable to ride a Harley instead of a sport bike?

Just want opinions here. Would it look weird riding a Harley at 18?
First, I get the point that the bike is not about looks . Geez =)

Second, I was only asking for the sake of asking. I probably wouldn't get a bike for another four years...maybe longer.

Third, you have to admit...you do want your bike to look somewhat decent...don't you?

Harley. Hands down.
One of the very few bikes that actually gain value as they get older.
The crotch rockets are silly.
You want style, muscle, and women? Get the Harley.
You want to ride a lawnmower? Get the sports bike.

Acceptable in what criteria? Just looks? Then you want a motorcycle for the wrong reasons. Its questions like this that make the anti-harley crowd say "see, we toldya". here's a much needed reality check and news flash for you: -Its not about fashion. You gotta figure out what it means to you.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything...

Personally I think crotch rockets are designed for over stimulated youth and petulant punks that want to die. Everything is NOT about going 165mph. Riding a harley is for most a maturity thing, NOT mid life crisis. The people that say that are not even smart enough to know what riding a harley IS about. Some get it, some don't. You can ride a C/R and replace the bike very often or you can just buy one bike and ride it for 35 years. you choose.

On one hand I hate cruisers and Harley's in particular as not real motorcycles but fashion accessories for cornball Fonzi wanna bees and gay dudes who want an excuse to dress like a bare assed leather pirate in public.

On the other hand why do you care what other people might think? Ride what you want to ride.

On the next other hand a sport bike is not a bike for a young noob. Get a standard, non vtwin retro, or dual sport or entry level sport bike.

Nope. And besides, you should be concerned with how you LIKE the bike, not how you LOOK on it.

Not at all! It would be a much wiser choice than a sport bike. I rode sport bikes when I was young only because I couldn't afford a Harley

I say ride what you want. but I prefer sport bikes over Harleys any day. Maybe because all I see are old guys going through mid life crisis or dirty bikers and I hear the stupidly (not in a good way) loud exhaust. I mean really, does the bike have to sound louder than a farking T-Rex let lose?

Ride what ya wann ride, you worried what other people think? Then your just a poser.
