Aspergers, is it worth looking into?

I came across someone talking about aspergers the other day, and through googling it (to find out what it was) I realized that a lot of symptoms fit me.
I was always shy as a kid, but lately I've noticed that I'm not really shy anymore, just really awkward. I have trouble understanding what people want, I either can't make eye contact or I stare, I never really know what to say in a conversation, and I hate small talk. I'm terrified on talking on the phone, because I can't see the other person, and I've noticed for a while that I tend to be really selfish in conversations and (unless I put effort into not doing it) I always steer them back to my interests. I also have a lot of trouble making and keeping friends, as it is right now, I only have one good friend left.
As I understand it, those could all be symptoms of aspergers.

On the other hand, I've been reading through people's stories many of them talk about how horrible it was before they were diagnosed, but I don't really consider any of it horrible or even very bad, which makes me think I'm just an awkward person. I don't really think being told I have it (or don't) would change anything, it would just be nice to know if there is even a possibility.
Does this sound like it's worth looking into?
