...player fitness & skills ? For a hundred years teams just had a Coach - full stop. Now every team has a football dept made up of a gaggle of coaches, seems like mostly recently retired players, with dubious credentials.
The AFL has a coaching academy and now clubs are starting their own football academies to foster talented players.
BUT are we SEEING any benefit at AFL level for all this ? Injury count has skyrocketed, AFL career spans are shortening. Individual skill levels don't seem to have improved in my opinion.
Is it just "jobs for the boys" and a massive cost impost on the clubs to "keep up with the Jones"?
@ Dan - Heaven eh? Explains the slowness of play - they're all dead !!
