Rosalee Garcia is a supervisor at Second Time Around, a clothing resaled shop located on Brainbridge Island in Washington State. Second Time Around has a good clientele- both from a seller’s & a buyer’s viewpoint. Frequently, the sellers who take their used clothing to Second Time Around have worn an outfit only once or twice. Buyers appreciate not only the like-new condition of the clothing, but also the excellent prices.
Rosalee has noticed that Becky Wilson, 1 of her salespersons, likes to try on some of the consignment garments when they come into the store. Becky used to try the clothing on when the store was not terribly busy. But lately, more & more frequently, she is finding it easier to “ check out” the merchandise by taking it home to try on. Sometimes she buys the outfit at the 15 percent discount the store offers employees. She returns the things she doesn’t buy to the store, usually within a day or two, but always within a week.
Rosalee has noticed that some of the clothing Becky has taken home looks as though it may have been worn since the time it was brought into the store by the seller. Rosalee wonders if Becky is wearing an outfit & then bring it back. She wonders also if Becky is then bringing all of the “borrowed” outfits back to the store. It is difficult to know for sure, but Rosalee feels that some decisions must be made abt this growing suspicion.
