...fighting over the existence of God...? I mean simply put there is no point to hang out in here if you don't belong to any religion or follow God. Aren't there things better to do then proving God's existence? That's just my opinion.

I'll stop arguing over religion once people stop letting their religion affect the laws of the country. I bet you I wouldn't talk about religion nearly as much if I lived in Denmark.

Because they are afraid that God exists. So, they need the sense of security.

Because Christians show great disrespect to atheists. Running them down and insisting they are wrong and evil. Everyone has a right to believe, or disbelieve as they choose. Why do so many Christians spend so much time in here ANSWERING the atheists?

You can't convince an atheist of anything; for their non-belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep-seated need to not to believe.Supported by a presupposition that god exists, which they deny.

Personally, I don't.

I actually don't care if such a being exists or not. (Count me in as an apatheist)
Besides, I'm not even sure what such a being would even be like. It's nothing I know of from my personal experience and I know traditional religion is either too mystical to answer, or else, in its literal form, simply wrong. (count me in as an ignostic as well).

I do think keeping extremists in check is good community work, though.

I don't argue. And I never fight.

I only try to educate those who never learned an alternative to god.

Maybe they are bored with their own lives. So pondering the existence of a Superior entity brings them a sense of self gratification.

If you genuinely believed someone was doing something harmful wouldn't you try to stop them?
