Audacity - After you have highlighted the potion of the song that you want to use as a ring tone, go to file tab and chose "Save SELECTION as MP3". First, before saving though, go to the Edit tab and choose "Preferences..." set the bit rate low so that the ring tone does not take too much memory. Set it to 32, don't worry, it will still sound real good on your phone. Now proceed to the "Save SELECTION as MP3". Hopefully you have also downloaded the "Lame" program too (which is at same location as Audacity download) as you will need to save your saved files into that folder first to be able to convert. That's it, ring tone is now saved.

As for connection of your phone to your computer, you will first have to download and install the drivers for your phone so that the computer can "see" your phone. Once drivers have been downloaded, connect phone to computer and "New hardware blah blah blah" will pop-up. Do not have the computer locate it by itself (my terminology is bad here I know) and choose "Not this time" then direct to folder in which you downloaded the drivers. Once it's done installing and whatever phone should start to charge (letting you know that your computer "sees" it). Now you can use programs like Motorola Phone Tools and other progs to load ring tone into your phone. Use search function here as I left a link to both the drivers download and for Motorola Phone Tools.

Confusing?? Not really but the way I put it, I even confused myself... Good luck.
