I have 2 12" AudioBahn subs AW1208T which are DVC 1500 RMS at 2-ohms. I'm looking for an amp to push them, I'm debating on going for the Kicker ZX2500.1 that's 2500 RMS @ 2-Ohms... should i go with it? or should i just go for an AudioBahn Amp that's half the price? Would the Kicker more than likely fry the subs since it's CEA certified? I've read some reviews on the subs, they seem to hold up, but i dont want to buy the expensive amp and blow the subs.

I would get the kicker. Audiobahn has not proven to be the most reliable brand, and this is one reason why they are a bit cheaper. Plus, a lot of them dont make their rated power.

Kicker amps have proven to be pretty reliable over the years. The kicker shouldnt fry the subs unless they cant handle the power they are rated for, like some of the older audiobahn subs were like.

In any case, a stock alternator cannot reliably support 2500 watts RMS. You probably wouldnt see that wattage since your stock alternator cannot supply the amperage and voltage level needed to make that power. Save for a high ouput alternator, because 2500 watts RMS is a LOT of stress on a stock alternator. No, a cap will not do anything. 2500 watts is a LOT of power and will make you have serious hearing loss in any case.

Being CEA certified just means it can make the power... some companies might have amps that do make their rated power, but the company is too cheap to pay for the CEA rating, as im sure they have to pay quite a lot to have their stuff tested.

Its kinda like some motor oils for VW, many could probably meet their goofy specs, but the companies dont want to pay for the testing/certification.
