Currently own:

Sony MDR V150's
Sennheiser HD 202's
Audio Technica ATH M30's

Digging the M30's, but I'm interested in the V6's as well. Just using them for home use (stereo and mobile) and long term usage (e.g airplane rides). I'm aware that the 7506's are similar.

Anyways, good buy? Alternatives (Beats excluded)?

Sony does not make a good sounding headphone period, there are much better choices.

If your trying to stay in the budget of the headphones your looking at I will be happy to give you alternatives to check out.

If budget is not a concern or your willing to spend a bit more there are much better options.

Yes Sennheiser makes some excellent headphones. On the upper end the hd650's and hd800's are superb. On the budget side,

Yes Grado does make some nice sounding headphones, but many people complain about the comfort level which is a issue. A headphone must be comfortable.

Right now the talk in headphones is from a newer company called HiFiMan. They make electrostatic headphones and do require a good headphone amplifier as well. Again not cheap but something you certainly want to check out if its at all a possibility.

Stax makes the best headphones in my opinion but they are some of the most expensive.

AKG makes a very popular headphone, a little bright analytical for my taste but with the right headphone amplifier could be a very nice sounding headphone.

I am including a link to a headphone buying guide that is very helpful and includes budget headphones as well.

If you want a truly audiophile grade headphone take a look at the Grado Prestige 60i and something competitive to the Sony would be the Denon AH D301 or Denon AH D501..If you can get a really good deal on the Sony it might be a better bargain though....
