*Authentic* Belgian Waffle Recipe?

I went to Belgium a few years ago and had the most AMAZING waffle from a street vendor. It had a slightly caramelized honey taste to it and it was epic! Does anyone know how to make them?!

I've tried everything, even ruining a couple of waffle makers with honey
