Award winning book tittle help?

There was an award winning book that came out a few years ago about a fictitious high school massacre ,mi think maybe by an Australian author and the story follows the best friend of the person planning the killings only the best friend finds his name on the hit list . That's all I remember about it , does anyone know what it's called ?
