My dad was put durim(rubber paint) on our roofs today its a tar like substance to stop leaks, when i got home a baby bird was stuck in it, its all over its wings and it has lost alot of feathers, I dont know what to do my brother has rapped the bird up in a cloth, is there any way to get the stuff off, and if so will the feathers grow back?

Ivory soap, they show it on ivory soap commercials how they use it to wash rescues birds and other animals.

Okay, palmolive dish washing liquid is a frequent choice for birds who have been caught in an oil spill. If that does not work, then use mayonnaise. I know mayo sounds like a joke, but it really works. Nice of you to take care of the bird. Feathers should grow back.

Contact your local Audubon Society for advice on keeping it alive through the process of cleaning and healing.

dawn dish detergent is safe for animals this is what a lot of teams use to clean animals during oil spills and things of that nature. its worth a shot

i do agreee you should try the vet first though

naw, you should take the bird to the vet, the feathers will grow back.
im sure it will be fine.

lmao the vet! you say.
The vet will throw it into the incinerator once you leave unless it is a rare endangered bird.
Get hand cleaner called GoJo at any auto parts store, NOT THE ORANGE STUFF.
http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/wcsstore/CVWEB/staticproductimage//N3252/full/7041020_goj_1141_pri_detl.jpg this will break down the thick tar, then use Dawn dish soap to get rid of the GoJo

Ivory soap will kill it, it is save for humans not animals.
