He's 4 weeks old.. has a stuffy nose, no fever.. I just started him on formula, we've been weaning him for a week now .. wondering if its colic? almost every minute hes awake hes screaming.. i WILL be going to the doctors, but since I can't tonight.. does anyone have ANY advice for me? I feel like a horrible mother because I just can't get him to calm down..

Try putting him in his car seat and sitting him on the washer or dryer when it's on. That should help him.My baby had colic too. and that helped a lot

he may have a ear infection, bottle fed babies are more prone to those...i just went through that the other week with my son. he didnt have a fever but he had the stuffy nose and non-stop screaming. i ended up taking him to the ER because he wouldn't eat or sleep and the doc office was closed...turned out it was in both ears and it was really severe...try giving him a dose of tylenol about .8mL to see if that helps also try milacon gas drops for infants

Oh, sweetie, you aren't a horrible mother. Do get the baby checked out, and in the meantime, know that sometimes babies are miserable no matter what you do.

First off you're NOT a horrible mother...or you wouldn't care.
Try the 5 S's from the Happiest Baby on the Block.
Swaddle, Shush, Swing, Sucking, SIde/Stomach position
The swaddling and shushing really worked for my girl.
A pretty tight swaddle followed by a loud shush in their ear and a little swinging from side to side may help him feel like he's back in the womb and in a familiar place.
Most of all, lots of love and patience.

Try a warm bath. Maybe give in for a night and give him breast milk. Perhaps he's not taking kindly to the formula. Also maybe try sucking the boogies out of his nose with a "sucker". Because of the stuffy nose it may be hard for him to swallow. He probably has some mucus build up too. A warm bath and a humidifier if you have one would probably help. He could also just plainly be uncomfortable. If it is colic only your love and patience can sooth him as you calmly try everything over and over.

Good luck though & congrats :)

Blakesmom said what I would have said.
Also, try pulling his knees up to his belly. This will help release gas and help calm him down. A colic baby likes to be bounced and you will bet very tired very fast bouncing him.
good luck.

Maybe he needs a special formula... like soy based. Could you try another formula in the mean time?
