This has been going on for awhile now and I don't know what it is. People say it's because I have dry airways, but I am constantly drinking and hydrated.Steamy showers and tea don't work either. What should I do, and am I wrong about what I think it is?

A barking sound caused by coughing usually mean that you have bronchitis. Bronchitis is caused when an infection enters your airways. It can only be completely cleared up with antibiotics when it's a serious case. Certain herbs also help bronchitis such as thyme and ivy leaf.

Laryngitis almost always causes this in adults. They call it 'croup' in children.

You probably need some antibiotics ....so go see the doctor!
