I have basketball tryouts on Monday, and I'm pretty nervous. I made the team last year, but we have a different coach this year so I'm not sure if she'd want me on the team or not. Basketball is my favorite game and I LOVED being on the team last year. If I don't make it, I'll be pretty upset. And a couple of days ago, I got a splint for my thumb that I shouldn't take off until next Wednesday, which is 2 days after the first tryout. I'm scared that it might slow me down (I'm gonna take it off because I think I'll be okay by then)... I'm really nervous! Please give me some tips, and how can I calm my nerves? Help me, please, I need it.

Its really good when youre nervous it helps you try to do the best you can do. Just think that you are going to make the team keep a positive attitude and believe me you will make the team

Going against doctors orders you could really get injured

show the coach that you have heart and HUSTLE for every play. Coaches want players who will hustle and scrap for every possession, every rebound, every second chance point. Let those butterflies fly, but when the whistle blows believe in yourself and have a "can do" attitude. I am sure you will be fine, if not do what Michael Jordan did when he got cut from his high school team, train harder, prepare harder, put forth the work and work your tail off and the results will follow.
