So on and off the battery will have power to start (from a stand still not after running). About 1 out of every 5 starts the car seems dead not even enough power to click when starting. about 2 out of every 5 starts the volts meter is very low and turning the head lights on will drain and kill it. The rest of the times its perfect. All this as it sits all in succession. Also the thing where you put your key in and start it will soon need to be replaced as it is very loose and you have to touch it just right to get the key to turn (no its not the steering wheel lock) So I'm left with the following question, is it the starter, battery, alternator, or key thing. The starter was just replaced about a month and a half ago. This just started happening today and was happening before we replaced the starter. So If something is maybe killing our starters what could it be?

Note: the radio will also just completely shut off only for a split second tho and most of the time when going over 45 mph

This is a 1996 Olds cutlas 4 door 6 cyl. Runs perfect was obviously kept in a garage before we got it..there is only one tiny spot of rust too.
Well its now dead in the water...battery seems fine, head lights work brights too...must be the starter but why when we just replaced it

i would say it,s either the battery, battery terminals dirty or the solenoid on the starter. either 1 of those things will keep it from turning over.
