We give Phil Mickelson plenty of grief around these parts (though it's a gentle spring rain compared to what you commenters say) so why not throw the guy a little love?

Recently, Mickelson hooked up 1,500 in-need San Diego kids with school supplies as part of his "Smart Start" program. In connection with Target, Mickelson and his wife Amy set up a whole ton of first- to fourth-graders with school supplies.

No word on whether the kids gave Mickelson any tips on mastering the fade or working the belly putter.
