I have three questions about yahoo answers.

#1. why is it when i ask a question, sometimes yahoo answers will force me to pick a best answer within 24 hours of posting? for example, i'll post a question, and within 24 hours it is asking me to choose a best answer, but questions that i answer for other people are sometimes up for weeks!

#2. when i vote for other answers, sometimes the word "tiebreaker" is listed. what does this mean and who decides? i assume it means two answers have the same amount of votes, but that isn't always the case.

#3. I notice that some of the questions posted in Polls and Surveys last forever! I will look back at one and it will be up for weeks on end without a best answer chosen Or "in voting"... what's up with that?

thank you!!

1. To stop this happening press "EDIT" in your question and press "EXPAND EXTENISION DATE"

1) They are NOT forcing you -- they are suggesting you choose. You have that option starting 4-5 hours after posting, then you get the email, but you have a FULL 4 days (or 8 if you extend your question 1 time) before you HAVE to choose. If you wait PAST 4 days, it will expire and go to voting. But you CAN wait until just before then.

2) Tiebreakers simply means the votes are TIED at that moment. The next vote MAY break it -- or create another tie. YOUR vote may have broken the tie -- but it takes a while after that for it to completely register and be removed as a 'resolved' question.

3) Sometimes, people's questions get removed as violations. Then, they WIN the appeal and the question is reposted. This seems to screw up the whole OPEN/IN VOTING/RESOLVED and timing out of questions, so they remain OPEN forever and never get put to voting, etc. It happens in other sections as well. The code just is NOT that strong that it works properly in ALL circumstances (as we all know!).
