Best laptop to buy for highschool?

I'm just about to enter high school and I was wondering what the best laptop would be for me to get so that I can get things done easily and efficiently. I was looking into the Apple iPad, which has a downloadable app which is like the equivalent of Microsoft's Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It also has internet access.

I was wondering if there are any other laptops that I should consider before purchasing an iPad for highschool.

Thanks!

Most laptops would serve the function well enough for general use. What I would suggest is getting a net-book. They're small, shiny, cute, and light. Not to mention they do more and have more than the think pad that I've been using for the last two or three years at NC State University.

I would think that most ladies in the high school range would be completely satisfied with a net-book. Most everyone makes them. I'd stay away from dell, though...Dells usually suck.

But if you have your heart set on a mac, not much would dissuade you, I'd think. A mac would also serve you very well when you got into college. (unless you have parents that buy you new laptops every four years, in which case, I'd say go with a netbook).

Also, you're going to pay about 60-90% less on a netbook than a regular laptop, leaving monies for other wonderful things.

You don't realli need an iPad, becuase you'll waste alot of time downloading apps. A best laptop would be the apple laptop, the basic apple.

If you ask me, the iPad really isn't very practical, considering you can't even use a keyboard with it, or take notes on it for that matter. A laptop would be preferable if you want to do other things than be on the internet. You should look into a Toshiba, Sony, or Asus laptop.
