I have a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X493 deck (nothing special) and I am wondering what the best settings are for the internal crossover. There is an option for:
Front High Pass Filter (Through,40,60,80,100,120,150,180,220Hz)
Rear High Pass Filter (Through,40,60,80,100,120,150,180,220Hz)
Low Pass Filter (50,60,80,100,120,Through Hz)
Subwoofer Phase (Reverse 180, Normal 0)
I have OEM speakers from Volkswagen in the car and a 10inch Sub in the back hooked to an amp. Again nothing special but I don't really have the exact details for the amp or Sub.
Thanks in advance for any help.

things like that are really pretty subjective.

Typically 80hz would be the rule of thumb for both high and low pass, but stock speakers might perform a little better at 100 or 120.

There's no harm in experimenting. I think what you'll find is your stock speakers struggling in the higher volumes when they're running at a lower x/o point.

You'd want to cross the sub at about the same freq as the front/rear to avoid any holes in your sound. Phase will be best left at zero in almost any installation.
