I'm trying to find different ways to convert my VHS to DVD but don't really know where to start. I have a PC with DVD writer but how would I connect that to my VCR using a component cable? (Yellow, red, white). Are there any external devices that I can possibly purchase which will instantly burn it by connecting it tomy VCR?

Please post any possible method and I shall promise to choose best answer in a timely manner. Thanks!
Okay, but how would I connect my VCR to my PC? Do I need a special cord or something? Any recommendation for an external DVD writer that is $50 or below which would allow me to do this effectively? I'll check YouTube as well but any additional help is appreciated. Thanks!

hi you can buy a usb device (video input dongle) that allows a composite or component signal input including sound input as well via the soundcard. these are used to convert a pal or ntsc signal from yellow white red cables (component , composite signal) once you have , there price ranges from 50 dollars au. & up.

when you have one u will need to connect on the rear of the vcr the yellow socket labelled output will have to goto the input of the usb dongle , sound from the left and right output on the vcr will goto the input of your sound card or if the usb dongle has sound input it will go to there. the dongles come with recording software already so all that you need to do is press play on the vcr and press record on the software once set up. once you have recorded a movie from vcr to computer you will have to convert the recording say from mpg to dvd you'll have to download a seperate program to handle the conversion once that is done you have your dvd.

just be aware that some copyrighted or all video tape movies have macroprotection that won't allow direct copy of the video tape causing the recording to be jumping in picture etc however some software will remove the macro

you can't burn VHS tapes directly on a computer, it is far easier on a dvd recorder but in both cases you have to play the tape at normal speed and re-record it in the new medium either hard disk or direct to DVD, dvd recorders burn in real time in DVD format so are much less awkward to use a dvd recorder with a hard disk is even easier as you can record the tape to the hard disk then edit it and burn it to disk but a 2 hour movie takes 2 hours to record

Look up youtube videos. Believe it or not, but you can learn almost everything from youtube whether it's false, incomplete or slightly true..
