What is the healthiest way to cook veggies? Ive heard that steaming is the best. If you steam veggies can you steam in them in a steamer with butter on them as well?

thanks for the info........

Steam them, blanch them and shock them in cold water, quick stir fry. All acomplish basically the same thing- making the vegetables a little more tender, while not cooking it to death.

Lightly steam them and then add butter after. If you do it before the butter will end up in the water. For a healthier option you can lightly spritz them with an extra virgin olive oil and add some fresh herbs. Good luck to you =)

Steam them, yes, it takes longer, but start the process earlier than the rest of the meal. Not only are the vitamins retained in the veggies because they do NOT touch the water, but the taste is not washed down. Also, since the flavors are intact, you may not need so much dressing. They are yum, yum!

I add the butter after the steaming is finished.

Just eat the vegetables raw, or steam them and utilize the water as most of the nutrients would be in the water after steaming. (soup)

As briefly as possible, and with as little added water as possible. Heat destroys some vitamins, while others are water soluble.
