I believe that you shoudnt because male fish some times become aggressive and it stresses them out. And getting a female theyll get aggresive to and its really annoying having to check whether the female has depostied her eggs if you get to that stage. and you need a lot of free time

Stupid question I know, but I watch him swim about in his tank and can't help wondering if maybe he'd appreciate a female beta-- what else do fish have to live for? Obviously, male and female Beta's have to get together at some point, but would they get along or attack each other if left to live together?

I've heard there are some fish they can live with but not another betta Ask at your pet store

no don't get another one they're just gonna fight each other till one dies:-(. They only get along when they breed. But if you still thinking about getting another one, get something that can divide your tank fully in half and put the new beta fish in the empty half so they won't fight. Or you could just get a new bowl.
