BItTorrent/uTorrent seeding+seeding ratio help!?

Okay so I'm really confused.
How long should I seed, what is my ratio supposed to be when I am seeding?
What should I set my ratio/percentage to, and how do I do it?
when I open my statistics through the help menu, it says it's something like 0.6. is that bad? and if yes, why?

when u download a torrent it gives u the ratio.

pick the one with more seeds, it downloads faster

THE HIGHER the number the better..i think...as youve uploaded more files...i think...then if no one else is seeding, they will be able to download the file in full...i think
