Blackberry Curve 9300 apps (unlocked)?

I have a blackberry curve 9300 and it's UNLOCKED. and for some reason it won't let me download any apps. is it because it's unlocked or am i doing something wrong?
If so, is there any way i can download apps on my unlocked blackberry curve?
