Blackberry OS update concern?

I am about to install an official OS update over-the-air. The only thing that is stopping me from continuing is that I'm afraid that I'm gonna lose all of my data on my phone. Is an official released os update over-the-air going to erase all the phone data (contacts, apps, saved data, etc.) ??

Yes, it's going to erase everything if you update it that way. Why don't you use the Blackberry Desktop Software instead?
I also understand you can do backups using the Blackberry Protect Application.
Check these options out before you update.

Your data is backed up and restored during the update.

There is always a chance that something could go wrong so use Desktop Manager or BlackBerry Protect to back up your phone before you update.
