Blackberry Pearl, I want to use it while at the gym as a MP3 Player... not sure how?

Hey all- I have a Blackberry Pearl and I want to use it as a MP3 while I am working out. I am not sure how to work it all- How do I download music? Do i HAVE to have a media card? And where I can by headphones that fit the phone? I bought normal head phones but they are too large for the phone jack.
Any Help in addition to this would be great- THANKS!
