Everything you need to know.

If you want a blu-ray player, try out the PS3. It plays blu-ray...so you get a blu-ray player as well as a gaming system.

I've got a blu-ray player on my PS3 and a HDDVD player for my Xbox 360. They're comparable as far as quality goes. Definetely more clear than an average DVD, of course.

Toshiba announced that they wont make anymore HDDVDs, so Blu-Ray will be the only high-def disk around. It was really inconvinent to have to buy Blu-Ray and HDDVD depending on what movie I wanted. See, certain studios only put their movies on one or the other. Sony Pictures used Blu-Ray and Univeral used HDDVD. I'm not sure about the others.
Anyway, I'm glad someone dropped out of the race.

Basically the same idea as a DVD or CD. It's a video disc that can hold a lot more data (i think 30 gigs normally, up to like 200 gigs with tri-layers and stuff) so it is in true HD quality.

the reason it's Blu-ray is because it uses a blue colored laser instead of a red one like cds.

also, it won't play in a normal DVD player. you need a special player for it.

Over priced DVD that claim to have better sound and picture. I dont know whats all the fuss about when we all have to buy HDTVs next year anyway.

They Are Raw As Hell ..
I Have A Blue Ray Dvd And A Bose And Its Awsome

Blu-Ray is the next generation of DVD format. It was developed by Sony and supported by major companies like Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung. The resolution of Blu-Ray discs is six times sharper than your standard DVD and supports 7.1 surround sound. It support 1080p the highest resolution for on certain HDTV televisions.

Currently Blu-Ray DVD players cost around $399 and up depending on the model. Blu-Ray is also built in the Playstation 3 so that you can watch Blu-Ray movies and play video games as well.

Blu-ray is just a technology for storing data on a disc. It works just like a DVD disc, but because of a different type of storage method, a Blu-ray disc and store more data than a DVD. Because high-definition video takes up a considerably larger amount of space than a DVD quality video, most high-definition programming is recorded to Blu-ray. HD-DVD was the same as Blu-ray, just a storage method.
