Blu Ray Sound seems to be echoing, any help is needed !?

I just purchased a blu ray disc player.
I have a surround sound system, and have the audio (red/white) cords plugged into it.
Im using an HDMI cord for the picture to the plasma.
The sound of effects and etc. seem to be okay,
but when people speak, it seems to have an echoing effect, any reason for this?
