I just bought a 58inch Plasma for my bedroom, and I have a vcr/dvd combo hooked up to it(along with cable tv or course). But everyone is telling me I'm missing out by not owning a blueray? what is the big deal about it anyway? When I first starting hearing the word Blueray I assumed it was just an advanced dvd player so what gives?

Sony's ... Super Film Disc, practically.
PS3's can play DVDs and BluRays..
BluRay makes the snow and ice glitter in Ice Age 2, apparently. I don't see the hassle of getting it, though. They cost FAR more than DVDs (maybe partly because not everyone has a player for it so there's less of a demand?) and sometimes have some extra stuff to them.. Such as in I Am Ledgend BluRay, there's the alternate ending to it, as well as the one which was in the cinemas.

I don't see all the effort of BluRay.. Unless you're a Tech. Geek..

if you want to watch high def movies on your tv you will need a blue ray player (or get a ps3)

you will find blueray movies cost more than the standard dvd

Blu-Ray is a type of dvd quality more than anything.

It's meant to be the next step up from HD..
there is noticable difference, and the picture is amazing..

But it doesn't make the DVD more enjoyable.
It comes down to personal opinion at the end of the day.

Also, the PS3 plays Blu-Ray DVDs

I suppose it would be desirable as opposed to essential..

Hope this helps :)
