Boating Lakes in Essex?

I'd love to take my kids on a boating lake, nothing fancy. Anyone know where there's any nice in Essex? We're in Southend on Sea.
 
if you go to thurrock they have one there look here for more details http://www.thurrock.gov.uk/planning/environment/content.php?page=recreation or you could travel a little further and go to ruislip they have good facilities there if going by train go to fenchurch street make your way to baker street get on the met line to uxbridge and that will take you to ruislip
