Booking A Disney Trip-First Timer?

My boyfriend and I are looking to go to Disney in April 2009. I called the Disney reservations number, after reading you can get better deals that way, than booking online. But, the women on the other end of the phone was less than helpful. I was a little disappointed, since I've heard Disney has really great customer service.

Anyway, I asked if they had any special offers coming up for the particular week I was interested. The women said, "No and that I needed to look online for a particular pin number, in order to get any 'special offers'"

I also inquired about booking a stay at a Moderate priced resort. On the Disney website, it says that the Moderate rooms start at $150 a night. But, on the phone, the women quoted me $230 a night. I want the less expensive room. But, the women said I needed a pin number in order to get any special room rates.

Anyway, now I'm stuck!!! Does anyone have an advice on booking a Disney trip. I was thinking about calling back the reservations line and hoping I get a different and more helpful agent. This lady was nice, but totally unhelpful!

Ok, I just went to DisneyWorld in December. I got a 7 day pass to the parks, and stayed in the All Star Movies resort for 6 days/5 nights. This was a "value" resort. My total for the 7 day pass for 1 adult and two kids with the hotel was $1100.00, which worked out to about 85.00 a night for the room. Upon leaving Disney I stayed at the Ramada in Kissimmee. I had a kids suite with bunkbeds in a seperate room, and a king bed. the Ramada was only 39.99 a night plus a 10 "resort fee". I was SOOOO much happier there. They had a onsite buffet, a pizza hut and snack bar, Kareoke area, a bar, indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, and an outdoor pool. For my money, I will never stay at a disney resort again. We only used 4 days of the park pass, and to extend it to the no expiration option was another 255.00 even tho we only had 3 days left. I found it to be all overpriced, and for the money enjoyed Seaworld much more. I was in Florida for a month, so if you have any other questions, just ask. Hope this helps.
