I just finished an old YA novel that had been collecting dust on my shelf for some time now (had found it at our local thrift store and was intrigued by the cover art and premise).

It is called 'The Abyss' and is basically the whole Jekyll/Hyde story but in modern times. A teenage boy named Todd attends high school and as he starts to have his first crush on a girl, his 'Hyde' side starts to come out. His 'Hyde' side usually makes sarcastic, dark remarks in italics (like it's in Todd's mind) which makes Todd look like a loony when he starts answering back to a voice no one else can hear. And when the girl Todd was crushing on starts going out with another guy, Todd's 'Hyde' side starts encouraging him to get revenge by killing both the girl and her new boyfriend. His 'Hyde' side even starts trying to take over Todd's body when he falls asleep and well, I won't spoil the rest. :)

It's a great read and I was wondering if there are any novels, young adult or adult, which use the same concept of an evil 'Hyde' side that talks to the main character. Maybe a dark, sarcastic, funny 'Hyde' character that no one else hears?
