Bringing shih tzu hunting?

I am an avid hunter and have hunted most of my life. I have grown to love squirrel and rabbit hunting the most. My family recently acquired a shihtzu. Now I know he's not a hunting dog by any stretch of the imagination, but is there any reason I should not take him on my next rabbit hunt? I know he's not a hunting dog and I probably won't benefit. But he's a well trained dog and it might be something we can both enjoy.

Sounds like a good idea, unless he'll chase off your rabbits before you can shoot them! Make sure he's not gun-shy first. I took my shelter-rescue black lab to the mountains to see how he'd handle gunfire. He looked at me funny for 2 or 3 rounds, and then trotted back to the truck and jumped in, watching me through the windshield. A few more trips and he should get used to it.
