I was lunging my horse on Saturday and noticed she looked a little off, and lucky for me the farrier was coming on Monday, and I had him look at her hoof. He said he didn't notice anything too bad (abscesses, thrush, etc.) but said it could very possibly be bruising from all the ice that we've had recently. I lunged her again Tuesday morning and she seemed the same as Saturday, when I first noticed.
If it is indeed a bruise (I didn't even know bruising on the hoof was possible), how long would you say it would take for it to heal? She isn't that lame - she's just a little off when I lunge her, but only at a trot. The walk you can't notice anything. Is it not safe to ride her until it is completely gone? I mean - if a bruise on a horse's hoof is anything like a bruise we get, stress and use of the bruised area doesn't make it worse, but like I said, I'm not sure if it's the same with a horse.
Thanks for your help.
