burning canon Rebel digital camera MOV files into DVD?

The mov files are from my canon Rebel digital camera. I have a Dell Precision M4600 computer that is running windows 7. The mov files are too large and take too much space of my pc. So I think burning them into DVD is a good way. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.
 
Google for conversion software. There are plenty of choices - they will change your files into another format, some of which will take up less space.

I think DVDs are good, other people feel that portable hard drives are a better option.
