Buy Telus Prepaid Phone to Replace Current Phone Under 2-Year Contract?

Can I buy a prepaid Telus LG Keybo 9100 phone (40 bucks at bestbuy) to replace my current broken phone (LG chocolate Flip 8600) that has 1 year left in the contract?
Do I just need to go to a Telus store with the new phone for them to switch the phone number to it?
