Buying a new car and trying to stay true to my Country.?

I have a Chevrolet Impala that frequently will not start for several minutes. The dealer is unable to fix the problem, so I am looking for
a new car - I NEED dependability! My question is, do I support the extravagant spending of the big 3 auto makers and buy U.S. made? I hate to buy foreign, but they make the most dependable cars. What about a Hyundai Sonata? I read on the internet they are manufactured in the U.S., does that count as buying "American"?
 
i've been having a lot of problems with my ford lately. i love supporting the US, but when it comes to car dependability..you gotta go foreign. i think that's what i'm doing next. it's just costing me too much. if the US doesn't want to put as much effort as others into dependability, then why support it?
 
No. Buy from a company based in the U.S. The chevrolet Malibu is highly ranked. We have a 1998 that has over 153,000 miles with no real issues and still runs and drives great. How many miles does the Impala have on it? Is it under warranty? If so, go back to the dealer and ask for the regional customer service phone number and call them. Or take it to a different dealer. If it is out of warranty, try a good independent mechanic. Good luck and don't give up, even the foreign models have glitches. Peace.

You do realize Toyota is more American made then a Chevy right?
Buy what is going to be the best for you. Test drive and compare prices of what you are going to like.
I can't suggest a type but I will strongly suggest you go used at least 2-3 years. You will save a great amount of cash and be able to afford a better class of used 30k car then a lower class new car for the same amount of money.

This is my reason for not supporting the Auto bail out. If the US made a quality product then the industry may not be in this position. A car is a big purchase. And you are right, you NEED reliability, and dependability. Now, if you truly feel that you can get that from a different US made car, then go for it. I, however, suggest a Honda. I've got 260K miles on mine, and have only had to replace the tires on it!
