Craigslist has a used PS3 local to me. I would save around $50 buying something that is two months old. (They say it is 2 months old but can't find the receipt).
They are offering that I could come to their house to look at it and make sure it works.
What should I look for? Should I even consider this to begin with??
I am really in need of some guidance here...thanks!

First of all, check hard drive. If it's a 60GB, get it immediately. lol If not, it's not a big deal either. Make sure it comes with all cables and at least one controller. There is also a USB cable for the controller that is quite essential. Since the controller is wireless, you will need that cable to recharge the battery once it run out. If the PS3 is a 80G model, doesn't hurt to ask if it comes with Motor Storm. :-)

Hope this helps a bit.

If you go, don't go alone.

Test it out with a few games, and test out all the controllers.

Ask why they are selling it.

Make sure all the wires, and anything that might be missing if it's a stolen unit, is there.

make sure its the 60/20gig version or your getting ripped off... theres Absolutely NO POINT if it doesn't have the Hardware (Emotion Engine) installed instead of an emulator

I think it would be worth checking out. Look for obvious physical damage to the case and the controllers. Ask to see a game played and a movie played as well so that you can verify that there is nothing wrong with the pic or sound. you might also bring a movie of your own that you know is not scratched and plays well on your existing player to verify pic quality.

$50?

I visit craigslist on a daily basis, and you can def. get one for cheaper. I bought mine from there brand new, and got it for $300 with an extra brand new controller, and Call Of Duty 4.

Good luck.
