I am going to buying my first home soon (1300-1500 sq. feet+, 3 bed, 1.5 - 2 bath) and I don't know what city I should live? I work in Plymouth but houses in Plymouth and Northville are out of my price range, even in this economy and Livonia is hit and miss, with houses below 1,200 sq. feet above $80,000 in not the best areas.
On the Eastside, I was looking at the Saint Clair Shores area and found a bunch of houses in the $45,000-$60,000 price range with the house specifications that I am looking for.
I know that the drive is going to be a lot longer and I'm going to be putting a lot more miles on my car but over a 15 year period but I could potentially save over $100,000. Is Saint Clair Shores a bad place to live, keeping in mind education and future appreciation?
