The more I think about it the more I'm wondering if diaspora isn't plural already.

I think it should be "diasporae", or something. I know it isn't, but it ought to be in my book.

yes that is correct, the use of the plural form of “diaspora” – “diasporas” – is recent. It can be found in only a few dictionaries.
the word is also a proper noun.
