I work for a warehouse where I have to pass through metal detectors every break. Cigarettes are not allowed on the floor, however I forgot them in my pocket after break and the security guard there took them and never returned them. This warehouse does not sell tobacco so there is no way it can be mistaken as their property.
I know security has the right to search everything, but can they literally keep my property?
I never signed anything saying that the company has the right to confiscate and keep my cigarettes if I happen to forget them in my pocket.
