Can android or IOS sync with Microsoft outlook?

I'm in the market to get a new cell phone to aid in my daily college life (scheduling, social networking, staying informed, etc) and I am having a little trouble finding stuff out. All my info is backed up on Microsoft outlook. I want to know if there is a way to transfer this information from outlook to a phone running a different operating system than blackberry's os. I also would like the phone to be one that does will probably stay up to date tech wise for at least one year, preferably two. The networks I'm looking at going with are AT&T or T-Mobil. I also would like it to be a touch phone. Those are my perimeters, so can it be done?
