Im getting a netbook for college as I really cba lugging my laptop about anymore as its just too heavy, so just after some info from someone who already owns one, or has owned one in the past.
This is my plan: Im gonna completely uninstall everything so just the operating system is left. Install avast, openoffice and aurora. Get a 2gig usb stick and use that as a cheap and easy way to gain extra ram for slightly better speed. Then im gonna set-up my home network properly with my laptop and desktop with the intention of being able to access the files on those systems via the netbook on the wifi at college. Depending on how much system resources i can free up, i may even install vlc and possibly some emulators(gotta have some games on to keep me entertained during college lol).
So my questions are, Will this all work? and if so to what extent? Will i be able to stream all media stored on my LT/DT and how well? Emulation-wise i was only gonna go up to PS1 with the images/roms stored on my LT/DT but if thats not poss then could put daemon-tools onto a usb-stick along with some images and mount via that way. Also how customisable is win7SE? in terms of freeing up resources, as I have heard its tricky because you cant access as much as you can in win7 for the home.
I know these things aint powerful but i would like to push it as far as i can! lol I will post link to the model im getting so you can see specs, i can see from reviews it does have its setbacks, but for the price i am paying i can live with them!! lol
