Can anyone tell me about connecting wii to the internet using the LAN thing?

i want to connect to the internet REALLY QUICKLY and i just found out my internet modem has LAN or somethingg.. can anyone help about how to connect and that? And would i have to buy any cords/cables? Or if you suggest me to get a wifi USB connecter please say. Im thinking REALLY hard about getting a USB.. but maybee i dont need one =S
