infinite how would we ever know? couldnt our universe be small part of many, could there be millions of infinitis, each with their own gravitation? imagine each universe being stacked with each figure 8 in a helix? (scientists theorize infinity to be a figure 8) the figure 8 stacked many times over contributing to a larger figure 8? could this process possibly repeat for infinity many times over? therefore being more that thousands of infinity? billions even. if thought about could universes be connected similar to a cellular level is connected just on a much grander scale?

Likely, the truth will never be known. To add to the confusion, we tend to describe space as 3 dimensional from OUR direct perspective, but CURVED into a 4th dimension....much like the way we see the Earth's surface as a flat 2 dimensional plane, but the further away from it we go it becomes apparent that it's curved into a 3 dimensional sphere.

SO...3 dimensions could appear infinite only by illusion....it could actually be finite like the area of a sphere! Move away from point "a" in any direction and go FAR enough, you could wind up back at point "a" where you started in an unwitting case of circumnavigation.

Blows the mind, huh?
